OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is a process where the computer "reads" an image of text and converts it to digital text. When a document is scanned, it becomes an image only — you can't search or copy text. OCR adds an invisible text layer to the PDF, so you can use Ctrl+F, select text and copy.
Supported: Hebrew, English, Hebrew + English, Arabic, Russian, French, German, Spanish. It's important to choose the correct language for accurate results.
No. The original document doesn't change at all — the visual appearance is identical. OCR only adds an invisible layer of text beneath the image, enabling search and copy.
Accuracy depends on scan quality. A sharp, clean scan yields 95%-99% accuracy. Blurry, crumpled, or low-contrast documents will yield lower accuracy. We recommend scanning at 300 DPI minimum.
You can upload PDF (scanned), JPG / JPEG, PNG, TIFF / TIF. For images, the tool will create a new PDF with a text layer.
